Iron Maiden, Milan 2026: cover artwork

My rating what's this?

A characterful Italian crowd and excellent tour atmosphere shine through, but heavy distortion and stadium reverb make the full recording tiring on the ears.

Step 1 of 4. What you're looking at

This is a bootleg, not the official live album. The actual night itself, recorded from inside the crowd, with the mistakes and the roar left in. This is the concert as it really sounded, before anyone cleaned it up.

// The bootleg

The atmosphere is as strong as it has been throughout this tour. Every so often the crowd adds a distinctly Italian touch, including a perfectly placed “mamma mia”, and that gives the recording a character of its own.

The sound itself earns a 7.5. Everything is audible, but there is heavy distortion and a lot of reverberation. Over a longer listen it can become tiring on the ears, mainly because of that distortion.

// Taper's notes

Hi Everybody, today it is a special day. I don't normally upload other bands than Queen or AC/DC, but this was worth sharing. Less than 24 hours after the epic and historic concert of Iron Maiden in San Siro Stadium, let me present the full uncut concert that I recorded with my mobile. I was on the Second Ring, Red Zone. Then I applied some corrections and EQ with Izotope and Audacity to improve a little the sound, remove distortion etc. and here it is. Of course you can hear people singing (me included) but hey... What an incredible and unbelievable night. Even Bruce was so thrilled. Iron Maiden tore San Siro down with 2 hours of classics. For those of us who were there, history was made.

// The night

Iron Maiden's only listed Italian show of 2026 brought the band to San Siro Stadium, with Trivium opening. Local reports framed it as Maiden's first appearance at the football stadium and a first for metal at San Siro. The Soundcheck described a crowd whose screams and chants often overpowered Bruce Dickinson and even the band, while Metal Hammer Italia called the response to Bruce's 'Scream for me Italia!' overwhelming.

The rating

The rating is mine, and it is the only quality mark here. The number from 1 to 10 next to a recording is my own listening judgement: how much I enjoy putting it on, everything weighed together.

I do not hand out an "objective" grade, because nobody can grade a live recording objectively. One collector's ears are not another's.

A tape can be clean and still rate lower if it leaves me cold, or rate high in spite of its flaws because it captures the night. Higher means I reach for it more often.

Take it as one ear, then trust your own.
